Subject: [Pirate Pixies] ISS Coach

Hi all –

I'm sorry for the number of emails!  Our ISS coach starts tomorrow with our gals.  If you can, please write a check made out to ISS for $50 to cover the cost of his coaching and give it to either me or Ben.  If this is a hardship for anyone, let me know.  The league can cover it.  Ben and I will collect the checks and send them to ISS once we have heard from everyone.

Let me know if you have any questions

Thanks

K

Reminder for game days

Hi Pirate Pixie Parents,
U10 is an exciting year for our girls. It's the first year for official numbered jerseys, non-parent referees, and the offside rule. The paid referees will probably be a little more strict about the rules than we are as parent refs, and there are a couple we should keep in mind as our girls get ready at home on game days:

- No jewelry, including earrings. Taping over them won't be allowed either.
- shin guards must be worn and must be completely covered by socks.
- all players must be in uniform (official jersey) to play. The jersey must be the outermost garment.

See you tonight!
regards,
Ben

Fwd: Player/Parents- Soccer Registration Incomplete- Info needed to play

Hi Pirate Pixie Parents,
Below is some information about the new youth sports concussion related law. Every family needs to follow the instructions below to log into the Mt Baker site and review and "sign" the consent form before your pixie will be able to play this year.. 60% of us still need to do this, so please take care of it before our first practice.
I'll also be circulating general medical consent forms for signatures and to make sure we have current contact information for parents. We keep these in the red first aid box and need them in the hopefully unlikely event that we need to seek medical attention for your child in your absence.

regards,
Ben

Dear Washington Youth Soccer Parents and Athletes -

On July 26, 2009, House Bill 1824 - also known as the Zackery Lystedt Law - becomes effective. The law mandates that ALL players and parent(s)/guardians sign and return an informed consent form relating to the nature and risk of concussion or head injury. This information sheet shall include the signs and symptoms of concussion/brain injury. The new law is an important step in ensuring player safety and mitigating head injuries.

In order to participate in practices after July 26th, 2009 and be eligible for the 2009/2010 soccer season, you will need to review and electronically sign the consent form. Until the consent form is signed, players will not be allowed to practice or play.
Follow the instructions below to display and sign your consent form:

  1. Click this link to go to the member log in area of your club's web site - Go to my club
  2. Enter your user name and password for your member account.
  3. A notice will display in your member account. Read the instructions and click the READ NOW link. Both parents and athletes need to read the information and electronically "sign" this consent form.
After completing the steps outlined above Washington Youth Soccer will have a permanent record that you have done so for this playing season and you are now eligible to practice and play.

To read more information on the new concussion law visit http://www.wsysa.com/ConcussionInformation/tabid/1457/Default.aspx .

If you have any questions, please contact Elizabeth Flannery or Amy Wallsmith at the Washington Youth Soccer office at 1.877.424.4318.

Please opt me out.

Fall Game Schedule/Start of Season

Hi Friends,

I've attached the game schedule for the fall.  The season begins with a Jamboree of (3x) 25 minute games on Sunday, September 13th at Greenlake.  We're home (at Lakewood) about half the time and across the nation the other 4 games …

We'll begin practice on Thursday, September 3rd  from 5 -6 pm and have a pizza party to follow at the field.

We're excited and hope your Pixie is too!   Let me know if you have any questions.

Cheers

Karin
