Pirate Pixies Pizza Party

Thank you Coach Karin!
Thank you Coach Jonny!

Game 8 - Dolphins

The Pirate Pixies needed every ounce of Arrgh against the Capitol Hill Dolphins - probably the physically roughest team we've played. But the Pixies played well, and not that we are the types to keep score, but if we were, we could say that they had an undefeated season!

Pirate Pixies Pizza

---------- Forwarded message ----------
From: Karin Hirschfeld

Hi friends –

The Pixies played a dynamite game yesterday.  They all played their best (despite the intimidating reputation of the mighty Badgers) and it was great to watch!

Just a reminder that our end of the season party is Saturday, October 25th at Vince's (6 – 8 ish pm).  I need to pre-order so please let me know how many people from your family will be attending and if you have a pizza preference.  I have heard from the families of: Ellie, Nicole, Alice, Mackenzie and Savita.

THANKS!  See you Tuesday at 5

Game 7 - Badgers

Each Pixie on the field played exquisitely today, and it paid off. Fearless and ferocious, they owned the field, playing against the very talented Mt Baker Badgers.

Game 6 - Cheetah Girls

The Pirate Pixies had a very successful game against another Mt Baker team, the Cheetah Girls. We had a special fan - Coach Johnny, our Thursday ISS coach was there to see them in action!

Hi there –

We had a wet but energetic practice tonight – these girls are hardy!

Our game this Saturday is at 1:15.  Please be there by 12:55 for warm-ups.  Thanks much – let me know if anyone needs a ride to or from.

Tks

Karin

Game 5 - Dolphins

I think this was the windiest game the pixies have ever played. When kicked into the wind, the ball would stop midair. Despite that, they played very well, passing and scoring effectively.

Game 4 Kick'n Kit Kats

The Beacon Hill Kick'n Kit Kats were a good team, and the weather was great. The Pirate Pixies played very well - their passing improves every week.

practice time & reminders

Subject: Re: [Pirate Pixies] practice time

I have a couple other reminders:

- As the weather gets wet, things get slippery. Please make sure your Pixie has her cleats at practice
- Even in practice, our girls are playing hard - shin guards are required. If you forget, I usually have a spare pair, but they are slip ins and need long socks.
- The league prohibits jewelry during play, and it's a good idea for practice also to make sure there are no dangling necklaces or earrings.
- Everyone still needs water during practices and games. If someone is thirsty, the girls share among each other, but during cold season, it would be nicer not to.

It is really exciting to see their skills improve so quickly this year. They are doing so well!

regards,
Ben

Hello everyone –

Thanks for a great practice!  By the end of the session, they were using their Pixie brains and connecting with their feet.  A beautiful thing…
This afternoon I learned that our ISS coach has been switched from Tuesday to Thursday.  So… this Thursday's practice will also be from 5 – 6:15.
We can talk on Thursday about start times for Tuesday.

Thanks for all your support and good luck with your launch at school!

Best,

K

Practices and Games

Subject: [Pirate Pixies] Practices and Games

Hi everyone –

GAMES

We finally have our game schedule. We will be playing all our games on Saturdays at Mercer Middle School's 'Jefferson Field' (1600 S. Columbian Way 98108). It's close to the VA hospital. The schedule is on our website ( http://www.piratepixies.org ). There are at least 2 home games for which we'll need someone to referee. I will get those to you soon.

PRACTICES

Our practice schedule will be Tuesday 5-6:15 (with ISS coach) and Thursday 5:15 – 6:30pm – both at Thurgood Marshall School Field. I know this is a bit confusing, but it's an attempt to meet the scheduling needs of ISS and some of our families.

Our first practice is Tuesday, September 2nd. It will also be our first practice with our ISS coach. Saturday, September 6th will be our first game.

ROSTER

I've attached our current roster – let me know if there are any corrections or changes to your contact information.

COMMUNICATION

Ben sends this info for easy communication:

If you'd like to email the team you can do so (piratepixies@googlegroups.com )
You can also use team@piratepixies.org or team@piratepixies.com - these just forward to the googlegroups.com address.
If any girls want Pixies email addresses, Ben has offered to set this up, too.

Isn't he amazing?

MULA

Please write two checks in the next week to cover the ISS coach. You can give them to Ben or me.

1) $15 to Karin Hirschfeld (for $150 down payment)

2) $25 to ISS

SNACK SCHEDULE

We'll circulate that next week. Can someone take this on to cover all the games and remind people? Thanks!

THANKS!

I am excited to see everyone again and begin our season. How lucky we are to have such a great set of gals and families! If you have the time, dust off your soccer ball and practice a bit with your Pixie. This year's focus will be to get them to look up a little and see more of the field, find open space, and work on passing, receiving, dribbling, shooting and shielding. The most important part, of course, is for them to have fun and experience the benefits of working together well on a team. Yeah!

See you Tuesday – let me know if you have any questions.

Best,

Karin

Fall Soccer - Pirate Pixies!

Subject: [Pirate Pixies] Fall Soccer - Pirate Pixies!

Hi everyone -
I hope you are having a great finale to your summer. We have heard
that our practices will be Tuesday/Thursday at Thurgood Marshall
School field. Our time slot is between 5 – 6:30. I would like our
practices to go for 1 hour and 15 minutes this year. We will be
sharing the field/time slot with the Mighty Rainbow Cheetahs – a nice
group of gals. The field is on the I-90 lid, just off MLK. It's
lumpy and goal-less, but quite big and rarely wet.

If you have a strong preference for starting at 5 and ending at 6:15
pm vs. starting at 5:15 and ending at 6:30 pm, let me know. As we
discussed in the spring, we will have an ISS coach for one of these
practices for an hour. We should find out the details this week.
This will be an additional cost of around $40.

Practice will start Tuesday, September 2. I'll send a reminder with
the exact time (5 or 5:15) soon. I will pass on our game schedule as
soon as I get it as well.

Enough business – WE"RE EXCITED for the upcoming season!!! Ben and I
feel so lucky that our team has stayed together and are looking
forward to having fun and supporting their fabulous spirited teamwork.

Let me know your questions and preferences - more soon.

Thanks

Karin
